Best Anchorages in Croatia: Tratica (Kakan)

waves Wind: Bura, Southerner

If you want to feel a little bit of civilization on Kakan you can sail out of Podkućina half a mile to the east, sailed around cape Oštrica where you will find in cove Tratica (surrounded by pine woods) 15 anchored buoys and a restaurant on a beach. In the summer a lot of sailors come from Vodice and Tribunje port on a swimming day and don't be surprised if a tourist boat joins in. If all buoys are taken (and they are very often), you can throw your anchor on depths of 3 to 6 meters.

Smaller boats anchor themselves under southern coast. In both cases you will be well protected from western winds but not from bura and southern wind. If you anchor on a buoy, you are at least safe in this conditions but you will have a wind rocking your boat. In such conditions the best way is to sail to port Kaprije or if you have a smaller boat look for shelter in mali mandrač where you can beside local boats find a spot or two.

On the coast where little riva is built is a restaurant Paradizo which is quite popular. It's owned by a concessioner of this cove. You will eat well in coolness of pines and close to the sea. In hot summer days here is a little oasis that will take care that you are nice and cool in high temperatures.
