While the majority of the yachting industry is heading toward fuel-efficient, environmentally friendly, and noticeably slower boats, two Italian manufacturers remain committed to speed and, with it, the cool factor.

Tecnomar, known for its sleek, high-performance boats, has introduced a new version of the EVO120. Its peak speed of 21 knots (24.1 mph) is exceptionally high for a yacht of this size, and the superstructure's sleek, aerodynamic design complements the fast hull. Twin MTU 12V2000 diesel engines power the yacht. It does have a slower, longer-range side, with a range of 1,600 nautical miles at 10 mph.

The 120-footer includes only three staterooms—a full-beam master, a smaller VIP, and a normal guest cabin—in contrast to many yachts of her size, giving the six guests plenty of room to spread around. A sundeck with an infinity pool and a main deck with a salon and formal dining room are also available aboard the boat. The inside of the new launch, according to the yard, is totally personalized and influenced by automotive design.

Otam has long been known for its speed, and even its slower, more fuel-efficient boats appear to be quick. The Genoa-based maker has unveiled a new "Bad Boys" version of their beloved 58, which has been restyled by BG Design Firm. The owner desired a grey-blue and black boat with a semi-open helm area, and the tailored topsides on a proven hull—the 26th in the series—is a suitable mix for the owner.

There's a bar, a lounge, and an eating space in the cockpit, as well as two rear sunpads that elevate hydraulically while the boat is moving quickly.

The owner's need for speed will be satisfied by the dual 1825 hp MTUs coupled to Arneson surface drives. It'll travel at 48 knots (55.2 mph) and peak out at nearly 55 knots (63.3 mph), which is fast for a 58-footer. Two ensuite bedrooms for four people and a third single cabin for one additional visitor are located below decks.

According to Otam, the first Bad Boys model will debut next year at Cannes, however at the yacht show rather than the film festival.
